Why didn't Jesus do other things and prove it?

more than 20 years ago, before i baptised, i reached the conclusion that the words of the bible are not inspired by god but only the global ideas.
the reason why i reached that conclusion is based on hebrews 6:18 "through to unchageable things in which it is imposible for god to lie" and the title of a famous book written by the jw.
the idea i developed was the following: if there are things in which is impossible for god to lie ,then, by extension there are things in which is possible for god to lie, which is not proper for an ethically perfect god.
Why didn't Jesus do other things and prove it?

i asked this q in another thread but thought the question might fit in better over here in bible research .
thinking out loud again.
it doesn't seem to matter what bible you read, unless you're looking for discrepancies in translation it's not easy to just abandon the big picture.
I do believe all the bible stories are not all just "stories" (myth) - but they are spiritual teaching - the historical / fact perspective of the story is simply not what it's all about.
I think you're very perceptive regarding the "child on the knee". I like hearing the stories - dad telling us scary things (and having a go at us). I particularly liked Jesus telling us the one about being better to have a 'millstone around the neck and cast into the sea' - it certainly is better to be weighed down with sin and dwell at the bottom than to misguide children.

I thought I should ask, what do jws think 'inspired' even means?

isn't it true that the roman catholic church put together the bible (canonized the books), and decided the order and all that?
if this isn't true set me straight please.. what do the witnesses think about this?
is it (the bible) just as valid if part of "christendom" decided which books of the bible would be included?
But most break away groups, even large ones (eg protestants), have taken out some books. The catholics still use the same bible, which includes very important scriptures - the jws could well do with putting the story of Susanah back in - a story about "two witnesses".
"Taking his stand in the midst of them, he (Daniel) said, "Are you such fools, you sons of Israel? Have you condemned a daughter of Israel without examination and without learning the facts?"

when i was a jw...i just got baptized on my sixteenth birthday...i was thrilled and excited ...i went to iowa to visit a sister who i had a close relationship with.
when i got there...i was given entry into a brother's house where they were having a huge bbq where steaks were on the grill...and the brother made four steaks...and set one steak aside for himself and declared it was his.
i asked why ...he said "cause i like my steak medium rare.
You do not understand scripture because you are blinded by what the Watchtower has taught you and you follow men that know nothing of such truth.
You think the watchtower taught me? That really is a mistake - but on the other hand, the apostles spoke not just what they thought was right, but what "seemed right to the Holy Spirit" - and the language was certainly the type inspired by the Holy Spirit.
But, then again, you have every liberty to think the apostles were all mistaken. But what about the Holy Spirit?

I tried to show everyone that this so called rule in Acts is not a truth but an error being made by James
Why do people thik that the apostles who were expounded the scriptures by Christ Himself, not speak and teach in the manner He taught them - using the same way of speaking?
It seemed good to the Holy Spirit to say that - and how did the Holy Spirit speak through men down the ages?

i'm posting this again, for the jws - and i say - how dare you require the life of others.
pharisees thought old testament laws about eating were meant for their flesh - the wtbts does the very same.
the eating laws were spiritual teaching (not a word of the law has passed away) but the unspiritual pharisee did not understand - we still should not eat swine ( be like someone who feeds then goes and whines without having "chewed the cud), or eat the birds of prey (take advantage of those not as fortunate), or eat fish without fins and scales (and be like those at the bottom of the 'sea') - everyone is familiar with this - swallowing a camel and giving to dogs.
It is bizzare that, as plain as that scriptual evidence is, the average jw wants more than that to not kill someone.

What I am trying to say is that the wtbts idea of "eating blood" is the very same as the pharisees' ideas about eating certain animals - a literal understanding of spiritual teaching. It is well known (by some anyway) what the old "culinary" laws teach - and everyone has at least been in some way made aware of it by Jesus.
There is simply no excuse for the silly interpretation of the wtbts - and what excuse can they give for requiring the lives of those needing a transfusion? It's God's fault?

The Word also clearly said that we must eat His blood to have life - so where did you get His blood?
It is to intimately take on His life - not others, even another sheep.
Whose life have you "taken" so far?

i started to realize the depth of the present gb's spiritual depravity after reading the following essay contributed to
i could even feel muscle twitches in my body because the post presents a seemingly impossible dilemma to the christian trained conscience of one who is baptized and accepts many of the teachings of jehovah's witnesses.
at one point i was even thinking whether reformation is possible.
Turn to prostitution etc. - a "cry" for help.
These are those who "cry" to the Lord - both by "day" (knowing better) and by "night".

i've posted this stuff before, but here it is again.
the pharisees understood old testament laws on eating certain animals as applying to their flesh - hence the saying, "their god is their belly".
the eating laws were for spiritual teaching (and not a word of the law has passed away).

The pharisees understood old testament laws on eating certain animals as applying to their flesh - hence the saying, "Their god is their belly". The eating laws were for spiritual teaching (and not a word of the law has passed away). eg. we still should not eat "swine" - be like someone who feeds then goes away and whines without having "chewed the cud", or eat the 'birds of prey' - take advantage of those not as fortunate, or eat fish without fins and scales - and be like those at the bottom of the sea, and so on - everyone is familiar with this - swallowing a camel, or giving to dogs.
The same Word of God also clearly said that we must eat His blood to have life - so where is His blood? It is to take on His life of course - not the life of others, even another sheep.
In an attempt to do what's "right" (i.e. try and cover their sins), the wtbts has scared people into believing that it's about the flesh - pharisees all over again - and wicked.
More misconception is that Peter et.al. (who were taught by Christ), couldn't convey messages as Christ did, in that type of speaking. Do the wtbts assert that they were indeed 'phillistines'?
The wt blood prohibition is part of the same stupid message - deep down god is hard and unless you do as we say, he'll get you.
Enjoy your lamb roast and gravy - literally - compliments of your Creator.
